Lucius Flavius Arrianus, simply known as Arrian (c. 86 - c. 160 CE) was a Greek public servant and military officer serving under the Roman Empire. He was also an historian and wrote the Anabasis Alexandri, about the exploits of Alexander the Great.

During the 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze bought a copy of this book from one of the several book shops in Constantinople.[1]
