Thessaly, also known as Aeolia in antiquity, is a region of Greece.

Economy

Like in nearby Makedonia, horse breeding was important in Thessaly, and the animals were greatly valued.

Geography

The river Pineios flows through Thessaly and into the Aegean Sea. A city known as Pharsalos in antiquity is located in southern Thessaly.
