The Wounded Eagle
The Wounded Eagle is a memory in Assassin's Creed: Revelations.
Description
During a carriage race against Ezio Auditore, the Byzantine Templar Captain Leandros calls his guards for help. After he pulls ahead of the Assassin's wagon, Leandros' men manage to stop Ezio by throwing a bomb under the wheels of his cart.
As Ezio's carriage is hurled from the cliffside, he falls into a canyon, only managing to survive by using a rocky outcrop to slow his descent. Despite this, he hits the ground next to the splintered remains of his carriage.
After seeing that Ezio had survived the fall, although wounded, Leandros orders his guards to kill him. Managing to survive the battle in his weakened state, Ezio infiltrates the Templar stronghold and makes his way to a tower, where he finally kills Leandros.
Dialogue

In the race between the two, Leandros rushes through the canyon as Ezio begins to catch up. However, he manages to ram into Ezio's carriage and almost forces him off of the cliff, slowing the Assassin down enough to speed past him. Soon, Leandros reaches his destination, where he notices a few of his guards.
- Leandros: (to the guards) Stop him!
One of Leandros' guards hurls a bomb towards Ezio's carriage, which falls underneath his cart and explodes, sending him, along with the carriage, into the valley below.
Leandros approaches the guards.
- Leandros: Do not take your eyes off this road for a moment. Do you understand me?
Nothing gets through!
Ezio manages to climb back onto the road, which one of the guards notices.
- Guard: Leandros! (points at Ezio)
Leandros turns around, spotting Ezio.

- Leandros: Well, well. Look what crawled out of its hole to die!
Turning around to his guards, Leandros gives them an order, before signalling two guards to follow him.
- Leandros: He's at death's door. Finish him off!
Bring me his head, or throw yourselves into the canyon!
As Leandros walks away, the remaining guards approach Ezio, considering him as an easy target. Preparing himself for a fight, despite his injury to his abdomen, Ezio manages to survive and proceeds towards the village. He then steps onto a spinning waterwheel to reach the top of the fortress wall.
- Ezio: This used to be so easy.
Once he reaches the top, Ezio makes his way through the guard infested village. He manages to get past them all and finds Leandros behind fortified walls.

- Leandros: Could it be that you are every bit as deadly as the legends say? Or am I in charge of an army of drunks swinging sticks?!
Right this way, Ezio. Nowhere left to run now!
Ezio notices a few guards running towards him from behind.
- Ezio: Not for me, and not for you!
With a swing of his sword, he closes the gate behind him, and prevents the guards from entering and Leandros from escaping.
- Leandros: Kill that dog! Cut him down!
After killing some guards, Ezio loots their bodies for medicine, which he uses to heal his wounds. He then climbs his way across the rooftops. While arquebusiers shoot at him, Ezio manages to dodge them and starts to climb the tower where Leandros had taken refuge. Seeing Ezio approach, Leandros throws one of his guards off of the tower, intending to slow Ezio down.
- Leandros: Do your worst, malakas! (asshole!)

As Ezio dodges the guard, who breaks through a wooden platform, Ezio climbs higher.
- Leandros: Face me.
Ezio reaches the top of the tower as Leandros backs away from him.
- Leandros: What does it take to kill you, eh? Why will you not die?
- Ezio: Don't you ever stop howling?
With Leandros cornered, Ezio grabs and headbutts the Templar, before he forces his hidden blade into his body.
- Leandros: Well, the old hound still has a bite.
- Ezio: The book you carry. Where is it?
- Leandros: Ah! Niccolò Polo's journal?
This will do no good, not now. We have found one of the Masyaf keys already, and are closing in on the rest. - Ezio: What is in that library is not for you. Not the Templars.
- Leandros: Ah, you can have Altaïr's books, Ezio. We only want guidance. We only want directions... to the location of the Grand Temple.
- Ezio: Grand Temple? Tell me more. Now!
Leandros however dies and Ezio picks up the journal from his body.
- Ezio: Requiescat in pace, bastardo. (Rest in peace, bastard.)
Outcome
Ezio succeeds in killing the Captain of the Byzantine guard, and retrieves Niccolò Polo's journal.
Trivia
- To achieve full synchronization, Ezio must assassinate at least five guards from a haystack.
- This memory is slightly different from the version shown in the Gamescom Demo where Leandros is in possession of the memory seal instead of Niccolò Polo's journal as he is in the final game.
