The Mountain

The Mountain was a political group also known as Montagnards that existed during the French Revolution.

The name first became popular in 1793 during the National Convention as the multiple minority factions worked together to oppose the Girondins. The party was not united and relied heavily on separate faction leaders such as Maximilien Robespierre and Georges Danton. The Mountain went on to become extremely influential in the Reign of Terror. ^[1]
