Thanatos is the personification and god of death in Greek mythology. He is regarded as the son of Nyx, the primordial goddess of night, and the brother of Nemesis, the goddess of retribution, and Eris, the goddess of strife, as well as of the Fates.
Influence and legacy
1st century BCE
Around 47 BCE, Oidipous, the son of Akakios and Vesta, expressed faith in Thanatos in a letter to Akakios.[1]
21st century
In Greek culture, the letter theta represents death and as such, Thanatos. In 2012, theta appeared as part of Clay Kaczmarek's memories.[2]
