Temple of Apollo

The Temple of Apollo was a temple dedicated to Apollo in Megara in Megaris, Greece. After a failed assassination plot against his life in Persia, a blind Artaxerxes I sought refuge at the temple outskirts during the Peloponnesian War.

Between 431 and 422 BCE, the Spartan misthios, Kassandra, came across Artaxerxes, unaware of his identity as the Persian King. Artaxerxes requested Kassandra to visit the various sites that the former Athenian general Themistocles had told him about, in exchange for providing details about his life to the misthios.[1]
