Templar Coins were collectible items that the Assassin Altaïr ibn La-Ahad collected during his journey to Cyprus. Although apparently useless to Altaïr himself, Templar coins translate to points that can be used to buy upgrades in the Animus. They came in bronze, silver, and gold forms, with increasing worth. They could be found scattered in various locations around Cyprus or in the possession of higher-ranking foes such as guard captains, pirates, or duelists.

The coins, like other items that are picked up throughout the story, are given a sort of "hologram" indicator above them by the Animus to make them easier for the player to find. This gives them the appearance that they are approximately half the size of Altaïr.
