Sylvester II

Pope Sylvester II (c. 946 – 12 May 1003), born Gerbert d'Aurillac, was a prolific scholar, teacher, and Pope. He held the papacy from the year 999 until his death in 1003.

Sylvester II was a leader of the Templar Order, and a promoter of science.
