Sun Tzu
Sun Tzu (孫子; 544 BCE – 496 BCE) was a Chinese general, statesman, philosopher and author who lived during the 6th century BCE, between the Spring and Autumn and Warring States period of ancient China. He was best credited as the author of The Art of War (孫子兵法), a treatise detailing various sets of skills related to warfare applying to military strategy and tactics. Sun Tzu's work had been largely acclaimed, with the The Art of War having a lasting influence on both Western and Asian influence well into the Modern period.
In 756, the Hidden One Li E quoted Sun Tzu's The Art of War during his escape from the Mengshan Giant Buddha from his captors. In particular, he quoted chapter six of the treatise which touched on "Strengths and Weaknesses" (虛實) as he performed a Leap of Faith and jumped into the river below.[1]
