Stede Bonnet

Stede Bonnet (c. 1688 – 10 December 1718) was an early 18th century Barbadian pirate of English descent who sailed the Eastern Seaboard of the Thirteen Colonies with his crew. He was nicknamed "The Gentleman Pirate".

Stede Bonnet met Edward Kenway on Cape Bonavista, shortly after the latter had killed and assumed the identity of Duncan Walpole, an Assassin who planned to sell a blood vial to the Templars. Bonnet was being harassed by several British soldiers who mistook him for a pirate, following a sea battle between Edward's and Duncan's ships.

After Edward saved Bonnet, he offered to take Kenway to Havana, which is where Bonnet was headed in the first place. After arriving in Havana, Stede and Edward headed into the city, eventually ending up in a merchant house. Edward was recognized by a privateer, who knew about Kenway being a pirate, and the two engaged in a fight.

After the fight, Bonnet was mistaken for Kenway's accomplice, severely beaten by the Spanish guards, and had his sugar confiscated. Later on, Edward followed in Bonnet's footsteps on the island of Saint Lucia, and uncovered the secrets of the pirate's adventures.
