Stede Bonnet (c. 1688 – 10 December 1718) was an early 18th century Barbadian pirate of English descent who frequented the Eastern Seaboard of the Thirteen Colonies with his crew.
Stede Bonnet met Edward Kenway shortly after the latter had killed and robbed Duncan Walpole. Stede Bonnet was being harassed by several British soldiers, who mistook him for a common pirate. After Edward Kenway saved Bonnet, Stede offered to take Kenway to Havana , which is where Bonnet was going in the first place. After arriving in Havana, Stede Bonnet and Edward Kenway, under the guise of Duncan Walpole, walked to a tavern. Edward was recognized by a pirate, who knew from some time ago, and engaged in a fight with him. In the fight, Bonnet was mistaken for Kenway's partner and was beaten by police and had his sugar confiscated.
At some point, the Assassin Edward Kenway followed in Bonnet's path on the island of Saint Lucia, uncovering the secrets of the pirate's adventures.
