Blárskjǫldr was a Scandinavian skald active during the 9th century.
Biography
In 866, while traveling the Northern European tundra on orders of Ivarr the Boneless and Halfdan Ragnarsson to recruit to their army, Blárskjǫldr stumbled into a pack of wolves. He was saved by Ulf and Björn Stensson, brothers from a nearby petty kingdom. Grateful to his saviors, Blárskjǫldr told the brothers of his mission to peak their interest. Once back at their residence, Blárskjǫldr was granted an audience with Jarl Sten and convinced him to travel across the North Sea to England for riches and glory. As a show of what awaited them, Blárskjǫldr gifted the Jarl an ornate Christian cross.[1]
After three weeks at sea, Blárskjǫldr along with the Stensson brothers arrived in East Anglia. Eager to explore, Blárskjǫldr was disappointed when Jarl Sten told him to stay on the ship and help the crew unload, which he agreed to.[2]
