Sjaleng Lookout

The Sjaleng Lookout was a small camp situated on road leading up the mountain in Rygjafylke, Norway, serving as a watchtower for the Raven Clan's main settlement of Fornburg during the 9th century.

In 872, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir visited the camp upon her return from her hunt for Kjotve of the Wolf Clan. While passing through, Eivor overheard a conversation between her fellow clan members who spoke of Eyvind, the nephew of the clan's blacksmith Gunnar, who seemingly deserted from his position as a watchguard. Eivor went on to follow the road from the camp to look for Eyvind before he was declared a deserter.[1]
