Simon Stock (c. 1165 – 1265), alternatively Simon Stock of Cambridge, was an English priest who was later venerated as a saint, he was also an early prior of the Carmelite Order.[1] According to Catholic Christian tradition, in 1251 Simon was met by the Virgin Mary who informed him that those who wore a brown scapular would be granted salvation, a tradition that is upheld by Carmelites today.[2]
