Siege of Monteriggioni
The Siege of Monteriggioni was a battle between the Assassins and Knights Templar which took place in 1499. The leader of the Templar forces, Cesare Borgia, attacked the city of Monteriggioni, the main headquarters of the Assassins, in search of the Apple of Eden. The Assassins forces, lead by Mario Auditore and Ezio Auditore da Firenze, defended the city's walls and went on a frontal assault at the same time.
The city's walls were succesfully defended, though the frontal assault lead by Mario failed and Mario was wounded and taken captive. Mario was robbed of the Apple of Eden he was keeping with him and sent back to the city. Right when Mario entered, he fell to the ground due to his injuries, though he was quickly put out of his misery by Borgia, who shot Mario's head with a firearm. Ezio went unconcious due to a gunshot wound right after he saw Mario's execution. With the Apple of Eden in his possession, Cesare withdrew his forces from Monteriggioni and went back to Rome.
