The Areadbhair was a spear fabled to have an unquenchable thirst for blood.

During the Viking expansion into England, the long weapon was made available to the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan through an Animus modification by Layla Hassan, an Assassin who relieved her memories in 2020.

Behind the scenes

The spear shares the same name with one of the alternate appellations of the weapon wielded by the Irish mythical hero Lugh. It was said to be one of four treasures left behind by the supernatural Tuatha Dé Danann, with a mind of its own, and its head had to alternately be kept in a freshly-made draught of poppy leaves to quench its bloodlust, or in a pot of water to prevent it from spontaneously igniting,
