Shinran (親鸞, 21 May 1173 – 16 January 1263) was a Japanese Buddhist monk and the founder of what later became the Jōdo Shinshū sect of Japanese Buddhism.
Legacy
In 1581, Fujibayashi Naoe retrieved a statue of Shinran on the request of Mitsumune. Upon returning it, Mitsumune instructed Naoe to take the statue to Kyonyo as he no longer felt himself a worthy protector.[1] Which she later did.[2]
