Archer

Ezio, my friend! How may I be of service? This article is in desperate need of a revamp. Please improve it in any way necessary in order for it to achieve a higher standard of quality in accordance with our Manual of Style. |
Archers are a type of guard who appear in both Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed II and are commonly found on rooftops. They are always equipped with longbows and will shoot at the player when provoked, but will switch to their swords when the player gets near them.
Assassin's Creed
Archers in Assassin's Creed appear on rooftops in every city, and on top of large wooden structures in the kingdom. They commonly have very low armor and can be killed with 1 to 2 throwing knives; and can easily be approached and stealth assassinated from behind without being alerted to Altair's presence (unlike in Assassin's Creed 2).
Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines
Templar Archers are not as aware as the other archers in the other games and will usually only detect you and attack you when you are being chased. They are significantly dormant and oblivious to Altaïr, except when he tries to climb a structure. Altaïr can now assassinate from ledges, making them the prime targets of this technique.
Assassin's Creed II
There are 2 types of archers in Assassins Creed 2: regular longbow archers and fire tipped longbow archers, the latter attempt to shoot down the Flying Machine in the "Infrequent Flyer" mission (and the "Battle for Forli" DLC), and attempt to make the carriage crash in the "Romagna Holiday" level (they shoot the arrows which create circles of fire on the ground and force Ezio to maneuver around them).
Archers are always found on rooftops in all cities. They use longbows and medium weapons. They will shoot at Ezio on sight despite his Notoriety level. Their arrows are dangerous as they do a conciderable damage and brake Ezio's armor easily. They will also hunt down Ezio and Pickpockets or Borgia Messengers on rooftops. If Ezio gets too close they will use their face-to-face weapons to hit him, but their very low armor and low direct combat abillities make them an easy target when close. They can also be thrown from rooftops to be killed easily. Although they aren't very quallified, in groups they can be lethal, as a small group holds Ezio back, while the rest hit him with their arrows. If Ezio attempts to stealth assassinate a rooftop archer from behind they will be immediately alerted to his presence (unlike Assassin's Creed).
