Archegesion of Delos

The Archegesion of Delos was a ruined sanctuary located on the Greek island of Delos, dedicated to the island's mythical founder, Anios.
During the Peloponnesian War, as the sanctuary reminded him of home, it became a favourite of the Spartan polemarch Thaletas, who came to the Silver Islands to assist the rebels led by Kyra. Finding a connection with another Spartan, the misthios Kassandra, he led her there for them to fight.[1]
Trivia
- The ruins served as a viewpoint in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.
- The name of the place references the Greek word ἀρχηγέτης (arkhēgétēs), which means 'leader, founder'. It is also one of the titles of the god Apollo, highly revered on Delos.
