Senigallia is a commune and port town of Italy, located in the province of Ancona.

History

In 1502, Cesare Borgia's top captains rebelled against him and he was forced to make concessions for them to rejoin his army. On New Year's Eve of 1503, Cesare gathered the traitors inside a room in the port town and arrested all of them.[1] The masterminds, Vitellozzo Vitelli and Oliverotto da Fermo,[2] were strangled by Micheletto Corella that same night, while the rest would be killed a few weeks later.[1]
