Yavuz Sultân Selim Khan, Hâdim-ül Haramain-ish Sharifain (Ottoman Turkish: سليم اوّل, Modern Turkish: I.Selim; October 10, 1465/1466/1470 – September 22, 1520), nicknamed Yavuz "the Stern" or "the Steadfast", was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1512 to 1520.

Selim I was the son of Bayezid II and the brother of Şehzade Ahmet. When Bayezid favored Ahmet as his successor, a war between Selim and Ahmet as to whom would take the throne. Selim stood victorious, and became Sultan in 1512. His son, Suleiman I, succeeded him.
