Saint Taurinus of Évreux (died c. 410) was the first bishop of Evreux. After dying as a martyr, Taurinus was revered as a saint by the Catholic Church.

Biography

Much of Taurinus's life is mostly considered to be legendary, as it was known through a 10th century manuscript that was based in on a 9th century text. In one particular story, Taurinus was said to have raised a girl named Euphrasia from the dead after she died in a fire, with no traces of any burn marks.[1] This miracle led to a conversion of 120 people.[2]

Legacy

Centuries after his death, Taurinus was venerated as a saint and had a monastery dedicated to him in Evreux. His story of raising the girl from the dead was retold by a nun of the Bellatores Dei who shared the same name as Euphrasia.[3]
