Rocco Tiepolo (? - 1503) was a Templar mercenary condotierro employed by Cesare Borgia.

History

He entered the employ of Cesare Borgia presumably before 1497. He was visited between 1497 and 1503 by Fiora Cavazza, one of Cesare's Templar agents who masqueraded as a courtesan. Rocco helped Fiora to choose some of his best men for Cesare to use, and also flirted with her and entertained her; having two of his mercenaries fight while he dined with her.

After Fiora defected to the assassins' side in 1502 or 1503, she marked Rocco as the first target for the assassins. After all of his men were slain, the small army of assassins turned on Rocco. Unsheathing his short sword, Rocco did not seem to have any fear or regret in dying, rather, going down fighting seemed to have been the end he fantasized, as Fiora noted to herself.

In September or October 2012, the Templar organization Abstergo Industries used Rocco's genetic memories in their training program.

Appearance and Traits

Rocco is a heavily built condotierro in his 30's or 40's, and is physically based on Mario Auditore when he was younger. He has a very war-like personality, finding entertainment in watching his men fight each other to the death and seeming to fantasize dying honourably against an opponent. He wields a short sword.

Trivia

  • He wears a cape with the coat of arms of the Sforza family, indicating he is either related to them or worked for them once.
  • He shares his surname with two Doges of Venice: Jacopo Tiepolo (? - 1249) and his son Lorenzo Tiepolo (? - 1275). There are also a few 16th century Venetian artists who share Rocco's surname.
