Ricinus

Ricinus, also known as Ricinus communis, is flowering plant native to the southeastern Mediterranean Basin, Eastern Africa, and India.[1] Its seeds are the source for castor oil, for which it is also known as Castor Oil Plant. [2]

History

The Assassins utilized it to make one of their poisons by mixing it with nutmeg, opium, and saffron. An Assassin team consisting of poison specialist Tessa Varzi, Francesco Vecellio, and Cipriano Enu were known to collect these ingredients on their missions.[3]
