Rhode Island, officially known as the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, is a state located in the northeastern section of the United States, in the area known as New England. Rhode Island is bordered by Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Rhode Island was one of the thirteen colonies that claimed independence from Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War.
