"From the stones of a fortress breached, a Concord built to span the divide from where the minds of men gather to where their necks are severed."
―A riddle by Nostradamus describing the Pont de la Concorde.[src]

The Pont de la Concorde, previously known as the Pont Louis XVI and the Pont de la Révolution, is a bridge across the Seine in Paris.

The storming of the Bastille in 1789 and the fortress' subsequent destruction provided an unexpected and fortunate supply of stone at a minimum cost. The stones were recycled to build a new bridge, which spanned from the Palais Bourbon to the Place de la Révolution. Completed in 1791, the bridge was named Pont de la Révolution, later changing name to Pont de la Concorde.
