Plutarch (c. 46 – c. 120), later named, upon becoming a Roman citizen, Lucius Mestrius Plutarchus, was a Greek priest, philosopher and writer living under the Roman Empire. He was best remembered for the Parallel Lives, in which he coupled several biographies of notable Greeks each with a Roman counterpart.

During the early 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze bought a copy of this book from one of the several book shops in Constantinople.[1]
