Pierre de Rosteguy de Lancre, Lord of De Lancre (1553–1631), was a judge of Bordeaux and a member of the Parisian Rite of the Templar Order. Appointed Inquisitor, Lancre went to Bayonne in 1609 to recover an artifact from the healer Catherine who was accused of witchcraft. As she didn't talk, the Templar burnt her alive before her adoptive daughters Margaux and Ermeline. The Templar kept Ermeline as hostage while Margaux fled.[1]
