Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais (24 January 1732 – 18 May 1799), commonly known as Pierre Beaumarchais, was a French playwright, diplomat, inventor, spy, publisher and revolutionary.

During the French Revolution, Beaumarchais sought the help of the Assassin Arno Dorian after his play, The Marriage of Figaro, was intentionally censored by the Public Censors.
