Phaidra was the second wife of Theseus, and the stepmother of Hippolytos in Greek mythology.

Phaidra fell in love with her stepson, but he refused to reciprocate the feelings. Hurt, Phaidra told Theseus that Hippolytos had violated her, and angered, Theseus wished for the death of his son. He had the god Poseidon bring forth a sea monster, and Hippolytos crashed in his chariot, dying.[1]
