In 1476, Petruccio asked his brother, Ezio, to retrieve some feathers for him, the reason for which he kept a secret. Ezio agreed, but informed his younger brother he must return to bed thereafter. The next day, Petruccio was arrested alongside his father and brother on a trumped-up charge of treason against the ruling Medici family; he was executed the day after.

Following the escape of Ezio, his mother and sister to the city of Monteriggioni, Ezio begun his quest of vengence against the Knights Templar. Throughout the course of his journey Ezio collected a large number of feathers, which were strewn across northern Italy, and deposited them inside a chest in the Villa Auditore. After collecting fifty feathers, Ezio was given a large war hammer by his uncle; after collecting fifty more, Ezio received an cape embossed with the Auditore shield from his mother, who thanked him for not giving up on her; this was the first time she had spoken since the execution.

Trivia

  • If Petruccio's profile at the Database is read, it states that he may have died from his "illness", although it is later revealed in the mission "Last Man Standing" that he was executed.
  • After the mission when Ezio collects Petruccio's feathers you never talk to him again.
  • He is the reason Ezio collects the hundred feathers in Assassin's Creed II. Also not mandatory, but if you collect 50 of the feathers you unlock a special hammer, and if you collect all 100 feathers you get the Auditore cape and Ezio's mother hugs him for remembering Petruccio.
  • Just like Ezio and Claudia, he never knew that his father was an Assassin, although Ezio and Claudia discovered the secret later.
