Periphetes was a bandit who roamed the road from Athens to Troezen in Greek mythology.
The son of Hephaestus and Anticleia, Periphetes wielded a bronze club that he used while attacking unsuspecting travelers. He was later killed by the King of Athens, Theseus, in Argolis while the latter was returning to Attika.[1]
By the 5th century BCE, a site where Periphetes allegedly died was dedicated to him near Epidaurus.[1]
