Periphetes

Periphetes was a bandit who roamed the road from Athens to Troezen in Greek mythology.

The son of Hephaestus and Anticleia, Periphetes wielded a bronze club that he used while attacking unsuspecting travelers. He was later killed by the King of Athens, Theseus, in Argolis while the latter was returning to Attika.

By the 5th century BCE, a site where Periphetes allegedly died was dedicated to him near Epidaurus.
