Peisistratos (608 BCE – c. 527 BCE) was the tyrant of Athens who reigned between 561 BCE and 527 BCE.

During his reign in 550 BCE, the construction of the Temple of Zeus Olympian was begun. However, the work was halted after the end of tyranny and the rise of democracy.[1]
