Paul III
Pope Paul III (29 February 1468 – 10 November 1549), born Alessandro Farnese, was Pope from 1534 to his death.
In 1542, he began the Roman Inquisition by establishing a system of tribunals for prosecuting anyone with alternate religious beliefs.
