Palermo

Palermo is a city in southern Italy, capital of both the autonomous island region of Sicily and the Province of Palermo. During the Renaissance, the Assassins and Templars waged a war for control of the city.

Originally ruled over by the Greeks, the island of Sicily, and Palermo within it, eventually came under Italian rule, being counted as part of the Byzantine Empire during the early 16th century.
