Padiaset was a priest of Sobek who resided in Krokodilopolis during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.

Biography

Padiaset was a priest of Sobek who joined the cult alongside Sehetep. While Sehetep served in the main Temple of Sobek in the north, Padiaset served in a smaller temple in the south.[1]

In 48 BCE, Padiaset uncovered a series of sacrilegious activiies which took place in a tannery: large numbers of crocodiles were murdered and used to stuff drachmas before being mummified and smuggled to the a military camp located in the Uab Nome. However, he was caught by two soldiers who followed the cult, who brought him to a nearby shore to be executed. Before the execution could take place, Padiaset was rescued by the Medjay, Bayek, who had also uncovered the killings of the crocodiles. Padiaset provided Bayek with information on the cult, who used a trireme in Lake Moeris to smuggle the crocodiles mummies to the camp.[2]

Upon his return to southern temple, Padiaset was ambushed by soldiers from the cult of Sobek. Padiaset was able to defend himself against the soldiers and discovered that his fellow priest and friend, Sehetep, was responsible and had attempt to silence him to stop his meddlings. When Bayek came to speak with Padiaset on what he discovered, the priest requested Bayek to eliminate Sehetep once and for all, since he, as a fellow priest, cannot be seen killing one.[3]

Bayek was able to do so and met with Padiaset outside the Temple of Sobek, where the prest instructed his followers to treat Sehetep's followers with fair but stern punishments.[3]
