Ostrich
Ostriches (Struthio camelus) are the largest, heaviest and fastest birds found on planet Earth, with a top speed at 70 km/h.[1]
Ostriches can be found in large areas of sub-Saharan Africa[2], and before it went extinct in the mid-20th century a subspecies was native to the Arabian Peninsula.[3]
History
During the 9th Century, Ostriches could be found roaming the fields surrounding the city of Baghdad.[4]
