Olympe de Gouges (7 May 1748 – 3 November 1793), born Marie Gouze, was a French playwright and political activist, writing in support of feminism and abolitionism.

She was guillotined in 1793 during the Reign of Terror for criticizing the revolutionary regime and siding with the Girondists. Following her execution, the Assassin Arno Dorian recovered de Gouges' head in the Conciergerie. He then passed it on to Marie Tussaud, a sculptor assigned to make death masks of famous victims of the guillotine.
