Michael Avon Oeming is an American comic book creator. He was the writer for A Soar of Eagles, a prequel comic to the 2023 video game Assassin's Creed: Mirage.

Career

Early career

Oeming's early career in the comic book industry dates back to the early 1990s. He began by writing and illustrating various independent titles, honing his skills and developing his unique artistic voice. As an artist, his earliest notable contribution is his work on Judge Dredd (1994), a series published by DC Comics, while his earliest notable writing credit was for Bastard Samurai (2002), published by Image Comics.[1]

Among his most popular works is Powers (2000–present), a series co-created with writer Brian Michael Bendis. Another standout title in Oeming's portfolio is The Mice Templar (2007–2009), a fantasy epic co-created with writer Bryan J.L. Glass. The Mice Templar garnered acclaim for its rich world-building, intricate plotlines, and Oeming's lush and detailed artwork. He only provided artwork for the first 6 issues however.[1]

Assassin's Creed

In March 2024, Oeming was announced as the writer of the upcoming prequel comic to the 2023 video game Assassin's Creed: Mirage, to be titled A Soar of Eagles and focus on the Master Assassin Fuladh Al Haami, in his youth many years prior to the video game. The talented Mirko Colak joined his as penciller and colorist Lauren Affe.[2]
