The burned remains of Mefkat

Mefkat was a small village located in the southwest corner of the Sapi-Res Nome. During the 1st century BCE, the village was home to Jeska, an Egyptian smuggler.[1]

History

Sometime in 48 BCE, the village was used by Jeska to house villagers who were fleeing from Sais in the north to avoid being taxed by the governor ,Sefetu. Her operations was eventually discovered by Sefetu, who sent his men to raid and burn down the village, leaving only Pentu the sole survivor.[2]

Jeska arrived too late with the Medjay, Bayek, to stop the raid. After eliminating the soldiers, Bayek and Jeska brought Pentu to a small village which belonged to Jeska's relatives.[2]
