Masahito (18 October 1127 – 26 April 1192) was the 77th emperor of Japan, reigning as Emperor Go-Shirakawa from 1155 until 1158. During his time deposed, the Tōdai-ji temple was razed to the ground in the midst of the Gempei War in 1180, something which greatly upset him.[1]
