Maffeo Polo was a Venetian merchant and explorer; the brother of Niccolò Polo and uncle of Marco. In 1257 Maffeo and his brother travelled to the aged-fortress of Masyaf to meet with the Grand Master of the Assassin Order, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.
