Il Sparviero in 1515

Il Sparviero (English: The Hawk) was a member of the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins, active in Rome, Florence and Monteriggioni during the Renaissance.

Il Sparviero played an important role in the struggle between the Assassins and Templars, mainly during the rise of a mysterious organization affiliated with the Borgias, the Crows.

Biography

Fighting the Crows

At some point, Il Sparviero was tasked with protecting Leonardo da Vinci from a group known as the Crows. The Crows were staved off and Leonardo was kept safe by the Assassins, but his workshop was ransacked and several blueprints were stolen, although many of them had misinformation.

In 1497, the Assassin was tasked with finding Demetrio il Silente, a weaponsmith making replica Hidden Blades for an unknown benefactor in Florence, and stealing his blueprints. The Assassin stole the blueprints, and discovered multiple Hidden Blades with special designs of crows' heads. The modified blueprints and blades were taken by Mario Auditore to Monteriggioni for safe keeping.

After the fall of Monteriggioni

In 1501, Il Sparviero was tasked with assassinating Pietro de Galencia, a Templar doctor in Monteriggioni, who was sent to steal the Corvix Blades hidden in the Assassins' hideout. Pietro was assassinated, with his information never reaching Templar hands. One man working for him was captured and informed the Assassins of Pietro's attempts at gaining access to the hidden tunnels beneath the city.

In 1502, Il Sparviero was tasked with eliminating Borgia mercenaries disguised as tax collectors inside the walls of Monteriggioni. The three Borgia mercenaries were successfully assassinated, and the Assasins found a sealed letter with their instructions: to find a specific chest in Monteriggioni with the Borgia seal on it and to make sure that the Assassin Order was no longer active.

Later life

In 1515, Il Sparviero was tasked with assassinating one of Florence guards, but while carrying out his mission, he was discovered by other guards. After having cleared a bloody path among them, he had to flee, climbing one of the churches of the city to escape.

Trivia

  • Il Sparviero is the first main protagonist of the franchise whose appearance, class and true identity can be customized by players.
  • His name is grammatically wrong in Italian, since it uses the wrong article. The correct version would be "Lo Sparviero".
