Some imagined Yggdrasil as an oak tree; others as an ash. This artist has embraced the words of Norse skalds, or poets, who described it as breathtakingly beautiful. Along with the Nine Worlds, Yggdrasil was home to many creatures of Norse mythology. Among them was Ratatoskr, the wisecracking squirrel wo would carry gossip from one branch of Yggrasil to another, or from one world to the next.
