Last Man Standing
Last Man Standing is a memory in Assassin's Creed II.
Description
Relieved that his father and brothers will be released from prison, when Uberto Alberti, the gonfaloniere of Florence would submit the documents explaining a conspiracy against the city of Florence and the Auditore family, Ezio proceeds to the Palazzo della Signoria.
Dialogue
When Ezio approaches the piazza, he is shocked to see his father and brothers; each bound to a noose and ready to be executed. Uberto Alberti is seen standing on the platform along with another man beside him, the same man Ezio had seen at Uberto's house.

- Uberto: Giovanni Auditore, you and your accomplices stand accused of the crime of treason. Have you any evidence to counter this charge?
- Giovanni: Yes. The documents that were delivered to you last night!
- Uberto: I'm afraid I know nothing of these documents.
- Ezio: (shouts from the crowd) He's lying.
I need to get closer! (to himself).
No one could hear Ezio's words over the crowd's noise, so he forces himself to the front.
- Uberto: In the absence of any compelling evidence to the contrary, I am bound to pronounce you... GUILTY. You and your collaborators are hereby sentenced to death.
- Giovanni: You are a traitor, Uberto - and one of them! You may take our lives this day - but we will have yours in return! I swear! We wil-
Uberto signals the guard to pull the lever. The Auditore men fall through the platform as the noose around each of their necks tightens, resulting in death.

Shocked at seeing his family killed Ezio rushes towards Uberto.
- Ezio: (shouting) Father!
The man standing beside Uberto whispers into his ear upon seeing Ezio.
- Uberto: (Pointing at Ezio) There! Grab the boy! He's one of them!
The guards soon restrain Ezio, who throws words angrily at Uberto:
- Ezio: I'll kill you for what you've done!
Ezio soon frees himself from the guards holding him and reaches for his sword.
- Uberto: Guards! Arrest him!
Ezio appears afraid upon seeing armed guards approach him. Uberto orders them to kill Ezio.
A Brute disarms Ezio and approaches for the kill. Ezio sees a thief and a courtesan in the crowd, the same people he had spoken to before.
- Thief: You'd better run, boy. And fast!
Taking his advice, Ezio runs to the rooftops trying to escape the guards.
Outcome
Giovanni Auditore and his two sons, Federico and Petruccio are executed by Uberto Alberti. Ezio tries to attack him, but fails to as he is overpowered by the guards. Ezio escapes to fight another day.
Trivia
- It is possible to successfully fight and survive the guards rather than running away, though killing Uberto is impossible. Despite this, most of the times three guards will respawn when only one guard is left.
- Ezio can disarm the Brute even before he is taught to by Mario in Practice Makes Perfect, although it takes several tries and most of the times it won't work, providing the Brute a chance to strike.
- When Ezio is disarmed by the Brute in the cutscene, the weapon shown is the Syrian sword, despite the fact that he was wielding the common sword at the time.
