La Rochelle
La Rochelle is a port city on the west coast of France.
History
In the early 18th century, La Rochelle's merchants imported exotic ingredients from the Caribbean to add character to their local cuisine. The Welsh pirate Edward Kenway was one of the city's importers and shipped cocoa pods into French markets.[1]
