Königsberg is the historic German and Prussian name of the medieval city that is now Kaliningrad, Russia.[1] During World War II, the Nazis looted the Amber Room from Catherine Palace and transported its amber panels to the city[2] following the siege of Pushkin.[3] After the city's destruction by Allied bombers in August 1944, the fate of the Amber Room was lost.[4]
