Karachi is a city in southern Pakistan.
History
In 823, after the demise of Maryam's business, a young woman Roshan found work as the bookkeeper for master thief Dervis in Karachi. While working for him, she learned that her former mentor Bakhit was still active but his explosive devices were still in transit, especially going through Dervis first. However, not wanting the death of many citizens on her hand, she usually disabled the devices' explosive nature and packaged them to be obsolete. However, her stay in Karachi was brief as she moved with Dervis to Fustat.[1]
A year later, Roshan was part of a mission tasked by a hooded stranger, who saved her from prison, along with other mercenaries. She and the remaining members arrived at Karachi to continue their tracking of the Martyrs of Agaunum. After docking, Roshan left to find a new map in the city's library. However, finding the maps from cartographer Rishki, she was soon cornered by her fellow group members, twin Norse brothers Geir and Gud.[2]
Escaping their grasp, Roshan ran from her attackers and tried to outsmart them as she was outnumbered and overpowered by the Vikings. Running through the residential areas, Roshan led Geir and Gud into a garden, where women spotted and shouted in fear. In response, the resident's guard surrounded the brothers. Within a moment, a fight broke out between the guards and the brothers. Before leaving, Roshan spotted all of them dead, especially Geir and Gud. Roshan later found Azadeh and Onyx, who went to look for her. Together, they went to the library and found symbols relating to the Martyrs and were shocked of the rumors of magical powers of healing.[3]
Racing back to the remaining members of their group, the two women find the Roman pirate Dias, the self-proclaimed Christian prophet Francis and Samoan warrior Nafanua still exhausted. Explaining their plans, they all ready themselves while Francis managed to find horses for all of them. While traveling through the mountain range, Roshan noticed Nafanua sick and throwing up any food. Suddenly, a flurry of arrows were shot at them after Nafanua fell over. Roshan, Azadeh, Onyx, and Dias found and killed their attackers. However, Roshan found Nafanua dead while Dias held Francis accountable. Yet, Roshan determined Nafanua was poisoned and accused Francis as well due to his background of the Holy Roman Empire and his access to her. Cornered, Francis dropped his act, proclaimed his allegiance to the Martyrs, and escaped from Dias and Roshan's grasp. However, his fleeing provided an opportunity to find his masters, the Martyrs.[4]
