Kandovan is a village in the East Azerbaijan province of Iran. It was the childhood home of the Master Assassin Roshan, who lived there with her younger sisters Bolour, Masha, and their parents.
History
In 816, a harbor master came to Roshan's parents and offered a dowry for one of their girls to be his wife. Looking at the stae of her younger sisters, Roshan offered herself to be his wife. For the next three years, Roshan suffered an abusive marriage until she killed her husband.[1] As a result, her husband's family sent out their guards to find Roshan for murder, even back at her village.[2]
By 823, Bolour remained in her village as she married her childhood sweetheart Amon and began a small family. However, Masha was married off to a Mongolian merchant Bogd, who maltreated her and his other wives. When Roshan arrived back to check on her family, she encountered Bolour, who spoke about their family being fine except for Masha. Thus, Roshan planned to free her sister from Bogd's grasp. Fortunately, Bogd had a debt, which she paid off. She later had Bolour come to take her sister back home while she left to work for master thief Dervis and away from her family.[2]
