Kallipides was an old blacksmith living in the village of Alponos in Lokris during the 5th century BCE.

History

Once considered the best blacksmith in all of Lokris, his days of grandeur withered since he lost his sight. By the time of the Peloponnesian War, when the Spartan misthios Kassandra met him, he was completely blind due to the fake Eagle Bearer and his attempt at lighting the old man's forge.[1]

After Kassandra recovered his tools from local pirates, he tripped and fell over, only to be crushed to death by several weapons falling on him.[1]
